On 26th of June 2012 in the Marshal Office of Mazowieckie Voivodeship the Project Co-financing Implementation Agreement was concluded for the Project titled “Development of the public transport in Warsaw metropolitan area through improvement of the Warsaw Commuter Railway efficiency, reliability and safety” implementable under co-financing within the framework of the Swiss-Polish Co-operation Programme. Over the next consecutive four years the Project would come forward with the purchase of six sets of modern electric traction units and implementation of passenger information and monitoring systems at all halts of the WCR’s railway line.

On 1st of June 2012, 8 subsequent agreements were concluded within the framework of the Swiss-Polish Co-operation Programme. The Agreements valued at 406.6 million zlotys were signed by the Deputy Minister for Regional Development, Mr Paweł Orłowski and the Swiss Ambassador in Poland, Mr Lukas Beglinger. They cover inter alia transport development, renewable energy, preventive health care and border protection. This means that within the Programme nearly 94 percent of financial allocation has already been allotted to projects. Poland has benefited from the Swiss financial assistance since 2007 and is the largest beneficiary to this end.

On 21st of November 2011 the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) approved the Final Project Proposal titled “Development of the public transport in Warsaw metropolitan area through improvement of the Warsaw Commuter Railway efficiency, reliability and safety” prepared by Warsaw Commuter Rail Ltd. Thus, it was possible to take steps aimed at making appropriate agreements as well as required attachments for the Project. In the nearest future the following agreements were to be concluded:
